The Avatar Blues
This seems a bit absurd to me and is probably one of the latest 4chan ventures, but I have a feeling that this could actually be happening. Apparently, there have been a lot of posts online from people feeling depressed after watching Avatar. A sentiment that I do not share. While I enjoyed the movie for its stunning landscapes and characters, I don’t understand how you could become so detached from reality, and attached to a film as to lose all meaning in your life.
And in this interview, they seem to be a bit brutal on these people, who if they really exist, are clearly incredibly emotionally fragile. Watch the video and decide for yourself, but I find it depressing that people could become so depressed from watching a film.
[Also, I love how CNN is on top of this important national news story, and periodically flashes splash screens of movie stats. Clearly they care about this issue. And where did they find this two-bit psychotherapist?]
